Regular Season Round 26: Abejas - Panteras 93-98

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Abejas (9-13) lost to tenth ranked Panteras (6-17) in Guanajuato 93-98 on Saturday. Panteras shot 61.4 percent from the field. Panteras had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. American-Puerto Rican guard Isaac Sosa-Carrion (190-90, college: Canisius) notched 33 points (!!!) (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American power forward Christophe Massie (206-77, college: Memphis) supported him with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Panteras' coach Ronald Guillen allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 22 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Michael Lizarraga (200-89, college: CS Northridge) did not help to save the game for Abejas. American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Five Abejas players scored in double figures. Panteras maintains tenth position with 6-17 record. Loser Abejas keep the ninth place with 13 games lost. Panteras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Abejas will play against Santos (#8) in San Luis Potosi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
