No shocking result in a game when second ranked Gunma (15-12) defeated on the road 6th ranked Tokyo Z (9-19) 83-79 on Monday. Gunma made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Gunma especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) who scored 32 points. His fellow American import center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Shimon Takayama (180-90) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard Tatsuya Nishiyama (171-88) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gunma maintains second place with 15-12 record behind leader Akita NH. Tokyo Z lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 19 games lost. Gunma will face Cyberdyne IR (#4) in Tsukuba in the next round. Tokyo Z will play at home against Aomori Watts and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
