Regular Season Round 11: Maccabi T-A - Hapoel T-A 73-77

Top ranked Maccabi T-A (9-2) recorded its second loss at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (6-5) 77-73. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-19. But Maccabi T-A won second period 18-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hapoel Tel-Aviv won last quarter 24-22. The best player for the winners was international Rafi Menco (200-94, agency: Avi Zilberman) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. American-Tunisian Michael Roll (198-87, college: UCLA) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Pierre Jackson (180-91, college: Baylor) added 10 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Maccabi T-A's coach Neven Spahija tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to fifth place. Maccabi T-A at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Hapoel Tel-Aviv are looking forward to face higher ranked Hapoel Holon (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi T-A will play against Hapoel Eilat and is hoping to win this game.
