Regular Season Round 19: Al-Riffa - Al-Nweidrat 86-84

The most exciting game of round 19 in the Premier League took place in . This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Al-Nweidrat (12-6) to eighth ranked Al-Riffa (10-7) 86-84 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al-Nweidrat. Al-Riffa dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Nweidrat's 32. Al-Riffa forced 22 Al-Nweidrat turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Al-Nweidrat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-New Zealand forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 22 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international center Abdulrahman Ghali (197-88) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Al-Riffa players scored in double figures. Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 21 rebounds and Ebrahim Albasri added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Al-Nweidrat. Al-Riffa moved-up to seventh place. Al-Nweidrat at the other side dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Al-Riffa are looking forward to face Hidd (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al-Nweidrat will play against Al-Bahrain (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
