Regular Season Round 16: Aquimisa LZ - Lucentum 92-94
Date: January 6, 2018
Fifteenth-ranked Zamorano (2-14) gave a tough game to fifth ranked HLA Alicante (11-5) on Saturday. The visitors from Alicante managed to secure only two-point victory 94-92. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 30-25 charge, which allowed them to win the game. HLA Alicante looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Zamorano's players. Point guard Pedro Rivero (186-79) fired 25 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Point guard Adrian Chapela (192-94) chipped in 17 points and 8 assists. Forward Adrian Mendez (195-93) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Brett Ervin (201-91, college: Minn.-Duluth, agency: Duran International) added 22 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Zamorano's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. HLA Alicante moved-up to third place, which they share with L'Hospitalet. Loser Zamorano dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. HLA Alicante will meet at home Real Canoe (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Zamorano will play against the league's second-placed CB Granada (#2) and hope to secure a win.
