Regular Season Round 16: Navarra - Plasencia 89-75

Date: January 7, 2018
Not a big story in a game in Pamplona where 13th ranked Plasencia (6-10) was defeated by eighth ranked Navarra (9-7) 89-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-75. Navarra dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Plasencia's 30 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Navarra forced 22 Plasencia turnovers. Plasencia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Kris Davis (188-93, college: SIU Edwardsville) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and Bahamas swingman J.R. Cadot (196-87, college: TCU, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Navarra's coach David Mangas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard Adrian Fuentes (183-87) responded with 14 points and 8 assists and point guard Miguel Martinez (183-95) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Navarra moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Avila. Newly promoted Plasencia keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Navarra will face higher ranked L'Hospitalet (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Plasencia will play against Fundacion 5+11 (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
