The most exciting game of round 17 in the BBL took place in Bamberg. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked ratiopharm Ulm (9-7) to sixth ranked Brose Baskets (10-6) 80-77 on Sunday evening. Brose Baskets made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while ratiopharm Ulm only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Brose Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by ratiopharm Ulm helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American-Georgian Richard Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) who scored 21 points and 8 assists. American-Italian guard Daniel Hackett (199-87, college: USC) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. American swingman Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider, agency: BeoBasket) produced 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward DaSean Butler (201-88, college: W.Virginia, agency: Inception Sports) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Telekom Bsk. ratiopharm Ulm at the other side dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Brose Baskets is looking forward to face higher ranked BBC Bayreuth (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ratiopharm Ulm will play against the league's leader Bayern Muenchen (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
