Very predictable result when seventh ranked Valladolid Univ. (7-8) won against 16th ranked CBT Gimnastica (2-13) in Torrelavega 77-71 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-14. But CBT Gimnastica won third quarter 14-5. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valladolid Univ. made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for guard Alejandro Heras (189-95) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Mario Puebla (198-98) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Forward Sergio Garcia (195-95) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Tomas Ramon (203-84) added 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for CBT Gimnastica. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valladolid Univ. have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position in Group A-A with 7-8 record. CBT Gimnastica lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth place with 13 games lost. Valladolid Univ. will face higher ranked Pielagos (#4) in Renedo de Pielagos in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CBT Gimnastica will play at home against the league's second-placed Zornotza (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
