Regular Season Round 18: Carbajosa - Leon 72-85

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Leon (8-7) beat on the road higher ranked Carbajosa (8-7) 85-72 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-72. Leon made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Leon outrebounded Carbajosa 39-27 including a 36-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Colby Taylor (198-94, college: Central, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. Alejandro Fernandez (-98) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Gabriel Roman (185-97) replied with 18 points and 6 steals and American guard Jalen Pendleton (188-93, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) added 16 points in the effort for Carbajosa. Carbajosa's coach Victor Rico let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Leon moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Carbajosa. Leon will face Coruna II (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Carbajosa will play against Estudiantes L. (#7) and hope to win that game.
