Ninth-ranked Desio (7-9) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Piacenza (13-3) on Sunday. The visitors from Piacenza managed to secure only two-point victory 70-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by the former international guard Rodolfo Rombaldoni (193-77, agency: Players Group) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and the former international power forward Riccardo Perego (202-81) supported him with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Even 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists by point guard Carlo Fumagalli (188-96) did not help to save the game for Desio. Naturalized American swingman Xavier Brown (196-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Piacenza maintains second position in B with 13-3 record having just two points less than leader San Severo. Loser Desio keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Lugo and Olginate. Piacenza will meet at home Lecco (#4) in the next round. Desio will play against Crema (#3) and hope to secure a win.
