Regular Season Round 12: Ethnikos - Ermis Agias 71-75

Rather expected game in Pireus where 11th ranked Ethnikos (4-8) was defeated by eighth ranked Ermis Agias (7-5) 75-71. It looked good early as Ethnikos took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ermis Agias had a 18-14 second period charge getting the lead and Ethnikos was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-75. The winners were led by the former international forward Nestoras Kommatos (203-77) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Savas Chrysopoulos (200-89) supported him with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by center Kostas Macheras (205-85) did not help to save the game for Ethnikos. Swingman Paraskevas Martzos (197-85) added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ethnikos players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Ermis Agias maintains eighth position with 7-5 record, which they share with Psychiko. Ethnikos at the other side keeps the eleventh place with eight games lost. Ermis Agias' next round opponent will be higher ranked Doxa Lefkadas (#4) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Ethnikos will play against Karditsas (#16) and hope to win that game.
