Rather expected game in Krosno where 13th ranked Miasto Szkla (5-10) was edged by tenth ranked Start (9-7) 71-69 on Sunday. Miasto Szkla cut a 16-point first quarter deficit to two at the end of the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was point guard James Washington (182-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who scored 25 points. Swingman Chavaughn Lewis (196-93, college: Marist) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Start's coach David Dedek allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Peter Alexis (213-92, college: Thomas Jefferson) who recorded 15 points and 9 rebounds and forward Jayvaughn Pinkston (201-91, college: Villanova) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Miasto Szkla players scored in double figures. Start moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Asseco. Loser Miasto Szkla keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Start will face higher ranked PGE Turow (#5) in Zgorzelec in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Miasto Szkla will play on the road against GTK (#16) in Gliwice and hope to win that game.
