Regular Season Round 16: Cecina - Firenze All Foods 91-88

Important game to mention about took place in Cecina. Twelfth ranked Cecina (7-9) saved a 3-point victory at home edging much higher ranked Firenze All Foods (13-3) 91-88 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Cecina players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Firenze All Foods were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Senegalese Samuel Gaye-Serigne (198-96) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Andrea Spera (206-96, agency: Players Group) who added 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Simone Berti (196-85) responded with 16 points and 5 assists and forward Salvatore Genovese (200-87) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Firenze All Foods' coach Andrea Niccolai rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cecina moved-up to ninth place in B, which they share with 3 other teams. Firenze All Foods at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. They share it with Piacenza. Cecina will play against higher ranked Piombino (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Firenze All Foods will play against San Miniato and hope to get back on the winning track.
