Regular Season Round 13: Torino - Familia Schio 53-80

Serie A1 top team - Familia Schio (11-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Torino (4-9) 80-53. Familia Schio dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Torino's 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Torino's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Laura Macchi (188-79) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of her seven free throws). American Jolene Anderson (175-86, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Familia Schio players scored in double figures. Croatian center Ivana Tikvic (189-94) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Sophie Brunner (185-95, college: Arizona St.) added 13 points in the effort for Torino. Torino's coach Massimo Riga gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Familia Schio maintains first place with 11-2 record. Torino at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Broni and Vigarano. Familia Schio are looking forward to face Napoli (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Torino will play against Lucca and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
