Very important is a home loss of third ranked Al Wakrah (9-4) against sixth ranked Al Rayyan (6-7) on Wednesday night. Host Al Wakrah was defeated by Al Rayyan in a tough game in Al Wakrah 92-96. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Al Wakrah. Al Rayyan players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American guard Sherwood Brown (193-91, college: FGCU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. The other American import forward Stephen Hurt (211-93, college: Kansas St.) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) replied with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (196-91, college: Missouri, agency: MKP Management) added 27 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Al Wakrah. Five Al Rayyan and four Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. Al Rayyan maintains sixth position with 6-7 record. Al Wakrah at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Arabi.
