A1 top team - Olympiacos (11-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed tenth ranked Panathlitikos (3-8) in Pireus 97-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Panathlitikos. The game without a history. Olympiacos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Panathlitikos 41-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. Olympiacos looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Panathlitikos' players. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Olga Chatzinikolaou (181-81) who scored 8 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. American power forward Victoria Macaulay (193-90, college: Temple, agency: Two Points) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Olympiacos players scored in double figures. Coach Eleni Kapogianni's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Canadian forward Micaella Riche (188-92, college: Minnesota) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman Katie Hempen (175-93, college: Arizona St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Olympiacos. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-0 record. Loser Panathlitikos keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Olympiacos will meet at home bottom-ranked Panathinaikos (#12) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Panathlitikos will play against Olympiacos Volou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
