Regular Season Round 19: Venta de Banos - Naron 64-101

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 15th ranked Venta de Banos' (4-12) home loss to fourteenth ranked Naron (6-10) 64-101 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 101-64. Naron dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Venta de Banos' 32. They outrebounded Venta de Banos 49-27 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for Shanon Fowler (-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Anthony Holliday (191-92, college: Lamar) helped adding 22 points. At the losing side forward Davante McCallam (203-91, college: Chadron St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and guard Badhasa Margarsa (185, college: MSU-Northern) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Naron moved-up to twelfth place in Group A-B, which they share with Obradoiro II. Venta de Banos lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 12 games lost. Naron will face higher ranked Carbajosa (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Venta de Banos will play against COB (#11) in Ourense and hope to win that game.
