Regular Season Round 19: Jaguarzo Adepla - Algeciras 70-84

There was no surprise in Plasencia where 9th ranked Jaguarzo Adepla (4-9) was defeated by leader Algeciras (13-0) 84-70 on Saturday. Algeciras dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Jaguarzo Adepla's 38. They outrebounded Jaguarzo Adepla 34-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for center Jose-Maria Balmon (204-81) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists. American Michael Murray (196-91, college: Coppin St.) helped adding 23 points and 7 rebounds. Four Algeciras players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward David Atkinson (203-91, college: Salem Intern.) responded with 18 points and Serbian center Dusan Kostic (205-94) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Algeciras have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Newly promoted Algeciras maintains first place in Group D-B with 13-0 record. Jaguarzo Adepla at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Algeciras will face Benahavis (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Jaguarzo Adepla will play against Cordobasket and hope to win that game.
