Regular Season Round 13: Ovarense - Barreirense 76-61

Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Ovarense (6-8) won against at home bottom-ranked Barreirense (1-13) 76-61 on Saturday. They outrebounded Barreirense 42-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for Canadian-British forward Jermel Kennedy (201-89, college: Lander) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Joao Grosso (196-94) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Ovarense players scored in double figures. American guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) answered with 24 points and 4 assists and Montenegrin forward Miki Novovic (208-92) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Barreirense. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Ovarense moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Barreirense stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Ovarense will face higher ranked Illiabum (#5) in Ilhavo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barreirense will play at home against Electrico FC (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
