Regular Season Round 19: Valencia II - Begastri 90-54

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Valencia-2 as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group E. Valencia-2 smashed bottom-ranked Begastri at home 90-54. Valencia-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Begastri's 28. They outrebounded Begastri 48-24 including a 33-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Valencia-2 players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Begastri's players. It was an exceptional evening for Jon Galarza (193-97) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Pablo Bono (185-92) accounted for 10 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. Five Valencia-2 players scored in double figures. Valencia-2's coach Angel Cepeda felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Alejandro Ruiz (201-84) came up with 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Manuel Sanchez (198-95) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Begastri in the defeat. Valencia-2 have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Gandia. Newly promoted Begastri still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Begastri will play next round against Sagunto trying to get back on the winning streak. Valencia-2 will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Paterna on the road.
