Regular Season Round 16: Al Arabi - Al Wakrah 97-71
Date: January 17, 2018
The game between Top Four teams took place in Doha. Second ranked host Al Arabi (12-3) smashed 4th ranked Al Wakrah (9-6) 97-71. Al Arabi players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. The winners were led by American forward Nick Stover (198-93, college: S.Alabama) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists and Senegalese center Oumar Seck (208-88) supported him with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Five Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds by American point guard Marcus Johnson-Jr (180-95, college: UALR) did not help to save the game for Al Wakrah. American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) added 21 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Arabi maintains second position with 12-3 record having just one point less than leader Al Gharafa. Al Wakrah lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
