Regular Season Round 14: Psychiko - Apollon Patras 75-65

An interesting game took place in Athens where higher ranked Apollon Patras (9-5) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Psychiko (8-6) 75-65. The game was mostly controlled by Psychiko. Apollon Patras was better in second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Point guard Thomas Nikou (185-80) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 assists. Naturalized American swingman Nicholas Paulos (201-92, college: NC-Greensboro) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Psychiko players scored in double figures. Point guard Sarandis Mastrogiannopoulos (194-98) replied with 26 points and center Costis Gontikas (206-94, college: New York U.) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Apollon Patras. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Psychiko moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Kastoria and Ermis Agias. Apollon Patras at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Psychiko's next round opponent will be Kastoria (#9) on the road. Apollon Patras will play against Ethnikos (#11) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the A1 just one year after relegation.
