Very important is a road loss of third ranked Santurtzi (12-5) against ninth ranked Univ.Burgos (7-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Santurtzi was defeated by Univ.Burgos in a tough game in Burgos 78-84. Univ.Burgos outrebounded Santurtzi 42-30 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Mouhamadou Diop (212-87) who scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Nacho Garcia (187-88) chipped in 9 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Forward Juan Torres (196-92) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Mikel Sainz (195-95) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Univ.Burgos have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position in Group A-A with 7-8 record. Loser Santurtzi keeps the third place with five games lost. Univ.Burgos will have a break next round. Santurtzi will play at home against Ardoi and hope to win that game.
