Regular Season Round 15: Akademik PL - Cherno More 88-66

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Cherno More (4-9) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Academik Plovdiv (9-5) 88-66 on Saturday. The game without a history. Academik Plovdiv led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Academik Plovdiv forced 19 Cherno More turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. Academik Plovdiv looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Isiah Umipig (183-92, college: Seattle) who scored 28 points. The former international Martin Durchev (202-87) chipped in 25 points and 5 assists. Four Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Sim Iliev (204-89, agency: Interperformances) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Portuguese swingman Venelin Hristov (198-95) added 7 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Academik Plovdiv. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Levski 2014. Loser Cherno More keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Academik Plovdiv will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cherno More will play against Spartak Pleven (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
