Regular Season Round 20: Gandia - Cartagena 95-81

Very expected game when 8th ranked Cartagena (5-8) was defeated on the road by second ranked Gandia (11-2) 95-81 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Gandia's pressure prevailed and they won that period 28-15 extending their advantage to 14 points. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Matthew Temple (208, college: Texas Tech) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import forward Fitzgerald White (201-91, college: Union, KY) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard David Alvarez (184-94) produced 24 points and American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-94, college: Lander) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Gandia and four Cartagena players scored in double figures. Gandia keeps a position of Group E leader, which they share with Valencia II. Loser Cartagena keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. Gandia will face L Alfas (#5) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round. Cartagena will play at home against Lliria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
