Regular Season Round 14: Marousi - Peristeri GS 61-90

A2 top team - Peristeri GS (14-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Marousi (5-9) in Athens 90-61. The game was mostly controlled by Peristeri GS. Marousi was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Peristeri GS dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Marousi's 24 and made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Peristeri GS forced 20 Marousi turnovers and outrebounded them 36-20 including 22 on the defensive glass. Power forward Vassilis Symtsak (205-81) notched a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and American-Bulgarian point guard Keydren Clark (180-84, college: St.Peter's) supported him with 17 points, 5 assists and 6 steals. Four Peristeri GS players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by guard Giorgos Sourlis (190-85) did not help to save the game for Marousi. Orfeas Stasinos added 7 points and 7 assists for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Peristeri GS have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Newly promoted Peristeri GS maintains first position with 14-0 record. Marousi lost third consecutive game. Marousi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Ethnikos. Peristeri GS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Amyntas Dafnis.
