The game in Saigon was also quite interesting. Second ranked Thailand Mono Vampire (8-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Vietnamese Saigon Heat (4-4). Mono Vampire defeated Saigon Heat 97-83 on Sunday. They outrebounded Saigon Heat 52-32 including a 39-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Maltese center Samuel Deguara (223-91) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. American forward Michael Singletary (198-88, college: Texas Tech) accounted for 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Singletary is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Mono Vampire's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Nigerian power forward Maxie Esho (206-91, college: Massachusetts, agency: Two Points) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks and American-Thailand Moses Morgan (198-92, college: CS Fullerton) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Saigon Heat in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending Thailand champion maintains second place with 8-4 record having just three point less than leader Hong Kong ELL. Loser Saigon Heat keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Mono Vampire will meet at home bottom-ranked Formosa D. (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saigon Heat will have a break next round.
