Regular Season Round 21: Nagoya DD - Niigata Albirex 72-84

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Nagoya where fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (11-19) defeated 4th placed Diamond Dolphins (12-18) 84-72 on Sunday. Niigata Albirex dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Diamond Dolphins' 28. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) stepped up and scored 30 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and international power forward Tenketsu Harimoto (198-92) scored 19 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex moved-up to third place, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the fourth position with 18 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Diamond Dolphins will play on the road against Yokohama BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
