The game in Ashdod supposed to be also quite interesting. 6th ranked Maccabi Rishon (6-8) played at the court of eighth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (7-7). Maccabi Ashdod smashed Maccabi Rishon 106-82 on Monday. The game without a history. Maccabi Ashdod led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Maccabi Ashdod outrebounded Maccabi Rishon 38-21 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 58.1 percentage. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American Mark Tollefsen (206-92, college: Arizona) responded with 21 points and his fellow American import Jason Siggers (194-85, college: Albany) scored 19 points. Five Maccabi Ashdod and four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Maccabi Ashdod have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Loser Maccabi Rishon dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Ironi Nahariya and Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi Ashdod will meet at home league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Rishon will play against Ironi Nes-Ziona (#10) and hope to secure a win.
