Very predictable result when sixth ranked Unicaja Malaga (11-7) beat on the road 14th ranked Burgos (6-12) 85-78 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Unicaja Malaga looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward James Augustine (208-84, college: Illinois) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Daniel Diez (202-93) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard John Jenkins (193-91, college: Vanderbilt, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 16 points and 5 assists and international forward Sebastian Saiz (206-94, college: Mississippi) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Burgos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Unicaja Malaga have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Baskonia and Fuenlabrada. Newly promoted Burgos keeps the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Unicaja Malaga will face UCAM Murcia (#8) at home in the next round. Burgos will play against CB Canarias (#7) in Tenerife and hope to win that game.
