Regular Season Round 21: Vive El Masnou - Girona Basquet 105-80

EBA round 21 caused change at the leadership position. Fourth defeat of league's leader Girona Basquet (11-4) against second ranked Vive El Masnou (12-3) 105-80 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Girona Basquet. It was a key game for the top position in Group C-A. The game without a history. Vive El Masnou led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 67.3 percent from the field and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Vive El Masnou shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by Girona Basquet helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Antoni Gomez (190-94) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Albert Valle-Vives (-92) contributed with 24 points and 6 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Five Vive El Masnou players scored in double figures. Isaac Valera answered with 17 points and 4 assists and David Cuellar (192-97) added 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Girona Basquet. Girona Basquet's coach Quim Costa gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Vive El Masnou have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of Group C-A leader. Newly promoted Girona Basquet dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Marbella who have the same record. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
