Very expected game when 7th ranked Al-Najma (13-10) was smashed by third ranked Al-Muharraq (18-5) in Al Muharraq 91-68. Al-Muharraq dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Najma's 38. They outrebounded Al-Najma 51-37 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bader Abdulla fired 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Mohamed Nasser chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Five Al-Muharraq players scored in double figures. Coach Ivan Jeremic's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players saving starting five for next games. American forward Haminn Quaintance (203-85, college: Kent St.) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists and Mohammed Bullay added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Al-Muharraq maintains third place with 18-5 record having four points less than leader Al-Manama. Al-Najma at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Al-Muharraq's next round opponent will be Al-Hala (#6) in Muharraq. Al-Najma's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manama Samaheej.
