Regular Season Round 21: Zalgiris - Maccabi T-A 99-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A's (11-10) road loss to sixth ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (13-8) 84-99 on Thursday. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was Canadian-Slovenian point guard Kevin Pangos (188-93, college: Gonzaga) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists. Paulius Jankunas (205-84) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Zalgiris' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Australian power forward Jonah Bolden (208-96, college: UCLA) who recorded 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Tunisian Michael Roll (198-87, college: UCLA) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively. Four Zalgiris and five Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Defending Lithuanian champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Real Madrid and Panathinaikos. Loser Maccabi T-A dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Zalgiris will face Khimki (#7) at home in the next round. Maccabi T-A will play against FC Barcelona and hope to win that game.
