Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Manama: Al-Ahli (#2) and Al-Bahrain (#9). Al-Ahli (19-4) won against visiting Al-Bahrain (7-16) 82-71. They outrebounded Al-Bahrain 57-38 including 17 on the offensive glass. Al-Ahli players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American forward John Bohannon (210-91, college: UTEP) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Hesham Sarhan (-92) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Al-Ahli players scored in double figures. American forward Merrill Holden (203-93, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) produced 26 points and 9 rebounds and Jalal Akbar added 15 points respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al-Ahli. They maintain second place with 19-4 record having just three points less than leader Al-Manama. Al-Bahrain at the other side keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost. Al-Ahli's next round opponent will be league's leader Al-Manama in Manama and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al-Bahrain will play at home against Hidd (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
