Regular Season Round 22: Innova Chef - Ponferrada CDP 86-82

There was a small surprise in Zamora where seventh ranked Innova Chef (10-9) defeated one of their biggest challengers Ponferrada CDP (10-9) 86-82 on Saturday. Ponferrada CDP was trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 26-18 charge of Innova Chef, which allowed them to win the game. Innova Chef outrebounded Ponferrada CDP 47-30 including 23 on the offensive glass. American swingman Corey Raley-Ross (193-91, college: Buffalo) scored 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Andre McPhail (201, college: CS Los Angeles) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Chris Sterling (196, college: Ariz.Christian) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds and Senegalese center Serigne Barro (208-95) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Innova Chef moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Ponferrada CDP. Innova Chef will face Leon (#4) on the road in the next round. Ponferrada CDP will play against Obradoiro II in Santiago de Comp and hope to win that game.
