Regular Season Round 30: Zilina - Nova Ves 84-67

Bottom-ranked Zilina managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the seventeen-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Zilina won against ninth-ranked Nova Ves 84-67. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 17-point difference proves that Zilina was well-prepared to that game. Zilina outrebounded Nova Ves 41-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. Guard Robert Rozanek (190-96) scored 28 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Jakub Meress (200-96) chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Zilina players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Bosnian center Djordje Ninkovic (210-93) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and Canadian forward Matt Marshall (198, college: Brock) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nova Ves' coach Erich Korfanta tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Zilina (5-25) moved-up to ninth place. Loser Nova Ves dropped to the bottom. Zilina will meet higher ranked Levice (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nova Ves will play against the league's second-placed Kosice (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
