Regular Season Round 20: Snaefell - FSU 100-101

A very close game took place in Stykkisholmur between FSU and Snaefell. Eighth ranked FSU (3-15) got a very close victory on the road over 5th ranked Snaefell (9-9). FSU managed to escape with a 1-point win 101-100 on Sunday evening. Snaefell trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 35-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 100-101 at the end of the game. FSU well out of reach of Snaefell shooting 74.0 percent from the field and made 80-of-88 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. FSU forced 23 Snaefell turnovers and outrebounded them 108-82 including a 40-29 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 34 long-distance shots on high 73.9 percentage. FSU looked well-organized offensively handing out 42 assists. The winners were led by American forward Antowine Lamb (203-88, college: McPherson) who scored that evening 30 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) supported him with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. FSU's coach Eloy Doce used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Christian Covile (193-93, college: Adrian) did not help to save the game for Snaefell. Forward Sveinn Davidsson (192-86) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Four FSU and five Snaefell players scored in double figures. FSU maintains eighth position with 3-15 record. Snaefell lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with nine games lost. FSU will meet at home higher ranked Breidablik (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Snaefell will play against Fjolnir in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
