Regular Season Round 22: Guadalajara - Liceo Frances 91-74

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Liceo Frances (3-12) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked CB Guadalajara (11-5) 91-74 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by CB Guadalajara. Liceo Frances was better in fourth quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Liceo Frances 43-27 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. CB Guadalajara looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Raul Lazaro (195-87) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian forward Alfio Niello (200-91) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. CB Guadalajara's coach Roman Peinado used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American Henderson Days (-88) responded with 18 points and Marcos Estebanez scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five CB Guadalajara and four Liceo Frances players scored in double figures. CB Guadalajara moved-up to fourth place in Group B. Newly promoted Liceo Frances keeps the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. CB Guadalajara will face bottom-ranked Gran Canaria II (#10) in Las Palmas in the next round where they are favorite. Liceo Frances will play at home against Teguise (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
