There was a minor upset in Lugo where 8th ranked Estudiantes L. (9-10) was defeated by eleventh ranked Betanzos (9-10) 78-70 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Estudiantes L. won third quarter 20-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Estudiantes L. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Guillermo Pereiro (191-89) scored 21 points and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Daniel Martin (188-97) chipped in 22 points during the contest. At the losing side Pablo Cordoba (182-97) responded with 25 points and guard Jose-Antonio Lopez (190-96) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Betanzos moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Estudiantes L. Estudiantes L. lost third consecutive game. Betanzos will face Naron (#12) at home in the next round. Estudiantes L. will play against the league's leader Marin having rather not much hope for a victory.
