Regular Season Round 35: Hiroshima D. - Fukuoka Rizing 67-71

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Hiroshima. First ranked Fukuoka Rizing faced 4th placed Dragonflies. Guests from Fukuoka (27-7) defeated host Dragonflies (17-17) 71-67. Fukuoka Rizing dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Dragonflies' 24. It was a great evening for guard Yasuhiro Yamashita (187-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: Arizona St.) helped adding 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. Fukuoka Rizing's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and guard Seiya Tanaka (186-91) scored 19 points. Newly promoted Fukuoka Rizing maintains first place with 27-7 record. Loser Dragonflies keep the fourth position with 17 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will meet at home league's leader Toyotsu FE in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dragonflies will play against Bambitious Nara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
