Regular Season Round 8: KIA Picanto - B.Ginebra 77-103

No shocking result in a game in Makati City where eighth ranked B.Ginebra (5-4) smashed bottom-ranked KIA Picanto (1-7) 103-77 on Wednesday. B.Ginebra dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to KIA Picanto's 38. They outrebounded KIA Picanto 57-41 including a 40-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. B.Ginebra looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by KIA Picanto's players. The best player for the winners was guard Scottie Thompson (188-93) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Greg Slaughter (216-88) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five B.Ginebra players scored in double figures. American guard Rashawn McCarthy (185-89, college: Old Westbury) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and forward Jackson Corpuz (193-89) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. B.Ginebra moved-up to fifth place, which they share with NLEX RW. KIA Picanto lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. B.Ginebra's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manila to the arena Meralco Bolts.
