Regular Season Round 17: Hottur - Haukar 69-91

Leader Haukar delivered the thirteenth victory. This time they crushed 12th ranked Hottur (1-16) 91-69 in Egilsstadir. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Hottur was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hottur's 32. American forward Paul Jones (198-89, college: W.Washington) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Kari Jonsson (190-97, college: Drexel) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Kelvin Lewis (195-88, college: Houston) answered with 21 points and 4 steals and forward Bergthor Rikhardsson (196-97) added 4 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Hottur. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Haukar have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-4 record, which they share with KR. Newly promoted Hottur stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Haukar will play against league's second-placed KR in Reykjavik in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hottur will play on the road against Keflavik (#8) to get more than just one victory in their record.
