Regular Season Round 24: Toyota Alvark - Toshiba BT 65-94

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Toyota Alvark (28-8) in Tokyo on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by third ranked Toshiba Thunders (23-13) 94-65. Toshiba Thunders shot 60.3 percent from the field. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Toyota Alvark 32-21 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Toshiba Thunders especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) who added 15 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) with 12 points and 5 assists and American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toshiba Thunders have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 23-13 record having five points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Toyota Alvark at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. They share the position with SeaHorses and Ryukyu GK. Toshiba Thunders are looking forward to face Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro in the next round. Toyota Alvark will play on the road against the league's second-placed Chiba Jets (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
