Regular Season Round 23: Sagunto - Gandia 80-79

There was a surprise result in Gilet where ninth ranked Sagunto (7-9) edged leader Gandia (12-4) 80-79 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was guard Lucas Hofmann (186-89) who scored 20 points. Point guard Andres Pallardo (180-94) chipped in 11 points and 9 assists. American forward Matthew Temple (208, college: Texas Tech) produced 12 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Faith Pope (201-95, college: Texas Arlington) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Sagunto moved-up to seventh place in Group E, which they share with Lliria and Cartagena. Loser Gandia still keeps top position with four games lost. Sagunto will face league's second-placed UCAM Murcia II at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gandia will play against Paterna and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the LEB Silver just one year after relegation.
