Regular Season Round 22: Olsztyn - AZS UMK Torun 109-79

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked AZS UMK Torun (10-11) was outscored on the road by twelfth ranked Olsztyn (5-16) 109-79 on Saturday. Olsztyn dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to AZS UMK Torun's 42 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded AZS UMK Torun 44-25 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olsztyn looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by AZS UMK Torun's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Olsztyn made 8 blocks. It was a very good performance for forward Wiktor Specyalski (194-93) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Rafal Chudzik (198-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Olsztyn players scored in double figures. Radoslaw Plebanek (190-85) replied with 31 points and 8 rebounds and forward Slawomir Murowicki (194-83) added 15 points in the effort for AZS UMK Torun. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olsztyn have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Olsztyn maintains twelfth position in Group A with 5-16 record. Loser AZS UMK Torun keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Olsztyn will face Goleniow (#14) on the road in the next round.
