Not a big story in a game in Athens where 15th ranked Doukas (3-14) was defeated by fourth ranked Apollon Patras (11-6) 82-78 on Saturday. Doukas was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 23-17 charge of Apollon Patras, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Alex Acker (196-83, college: Pepperdine) stepped up and scored 12 points and 7 assists for the winners and center Costis Gontikas (206-94, college: New York U.) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds. Five Apollon Patras players scored in double figures. Center Ioannis Tozios (209-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and forward Stelios Ioannou (196-87) scored 22 points. Apollon Patras maintains fourth place with 11-6 record. Doukas lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Apollon Patras will face higher ranked Holargos (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Doukas will play against Kastoria (#6) and hope to win that game.
