Regular Season Round 26: Niigata R. - JX-Eneos S. 52-88

WJBL top team - JX-Eneos S. (25-1) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Niigata R. (0-26) in Tokyo 88-52. The game without a history. JX-Eneos S. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Niigata R. to just 4 points in first quarter and to 13 points in first half. JX-Eneos S. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 30 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Niigata R. 56-27 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. JX-Eneos S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international forward Yuka Osaki-Mamiya (185-90) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and international forward Yuki Miyazawa (181-93, college: Queens, NY) supported her with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Five JX-Eneos S. players scored in double figures. JX-Eneos S.'s coach Kiyomi Sato felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 13 points and 5 rebounds by forward Inoue Ai (172-90) did not help to save the game for Niigata R.. Power forward Umeki Chikako (175-90) added 6 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. JX-Eneos S. have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 25-1 record. Loser Niigata R. still closes the standings. JX-Eneos S. will meet at home Aishin Wings (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Niigata R. will play against Toyota B SR in Aichi and hopes to get finally their first victory.
