Rather expected game when 8th ranked Santos (16-19) lost to fifth ranked Correcaminos (20-18) in Ciudad Victoria 72-88 on Friday. Correcaminos outrebounded Santos 45-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American swingman JR Giddens (196-85, college: N.Mexico) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Cezar Guerrero (185-92, college: Fresno St.) supported him with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) did not help to save the game for Santos.
