Regular Season Round 24: Cornella - Palma II 54-58

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Palma II (13-5) defeated on the road 7th ranked Cornella (10-8) 58-54 on Saturday. Cornella was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 21-14 charge of Palma II, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Cornella turnovers. It was a good game for power forward Antonio Teijido (198) who led his team to a victory with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Joan Bernacer (196-99, college: Austin Peay St.) contributed with 9 points for the winners. Power forward Oscar Raya (209-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Nestor Zamora (178-84) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Cornella. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Palma II moved-up to second place in Group C-B, which they share with Pardinyes-L. Loser Cornella keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Palma II will face Valls Nutrion (#6) on the road in the next round. Cornella will play against Salt and hope to win that game.
