Regular Season Round 24: Cartagena - UAF Lucentum 59-55

Rather expected game when 11th ranked UAF Lucentum (4-14) lost on the road to eighth ranked Cartagena (9-9) 59-55 on Saturday. UAF Lucentum was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded UAF Lucentum 50-27 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-94, college: Lander) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Javier Santabarbara (197-95) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Miguel Ortin (170-98) replied with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Pablo Matarredona added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for UAF Lucentum. Cartagena have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place in Group E, which they share with Lliria. UAF Lucentum lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Cartagena will face higher ranked Valencia-2 (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UAF Lucentum will play against L Alfas (#5) and hope to win that game.
